Q: I heard there were VIP tickets to the Awards Ceremony! What's so special about these and can I have one? A: VIP tickets provide reserved seating in the venue and allow earlier access to the red carpet during the pre-show reception. VIP tickets are only given to celebrity guests, the executive board, those who were selected for the Grand Valley Film Festival, and their families.
Q: Can we use copyrighted music? A: Unless you have explicit permission from the creator of the music, we would say no.
Q: If my film is already online, can I still submit it to the festival? A: Yes! However, you must make your film private until its premiere date at the festival. Otherwise, why would anyone go see your film?
Q: I'm making a senior thesis film this year. Can I submit it? A: Yes! Don't let the general admission deadline fool you. Check out this page for more information!
Q: I want to submit a film that I'm currently displaying online for specific work/festivals/internships. Do I have to take it down in order to submit? A: No, that's fine! We just ask that you let us know you're currently displaying it for a job or internship, that you won't share it/advertise it to anyone else, and that you'll take it down (until your premiere date) once your job or internship approves or denies you. Good luck!!!
Q: I don't have a film to submit, but I wrote one. Can I submit my script? or I was the writer for a film and would like to submit the screenplay. Can I do this? A: Absolutely! There is a Best Screenplay award at our festival, which is decided and awarded by our judges independently from the videos. You can submit your screenplay using the same submission form to submit videos.
Q: Why can't I make a poster or trailer promoting my script? A: Scripts don't have photos or videos in them--at least none that we've seen. The promotional period is solely for films and videos that are going to be screened at the festival. Unless you make a video slowly scrolling down the entirety of your script... we probably won't be able to put it up for Viewers' Choice.
